Q: First time cholesterol check, age 43, somewhat active, eat well

Cholesterol 228, LDL calc 169, HDL 39.3, Cholesterol/HDL 5.8...This is Greek to me (Good or Bad)

Hi Rich R,

 

Here are the recommendations of the American Heart Association:


Total cholesterol less than 200
HDL cholesterol at least > 40, ideally > 60
LDL cholesterol at least less than 130, ideally less than 100
Triglycerides less than 150

Thanks you for the reply. I guess my one question I would have is; "How would I rate my Cholesterol; excellent, good, average, poor, bad or awful?" I did learn by researching that I eat way too much cheese and dairy products. Let me know, thanks.
