Q: Cholesterol

If you had bacon one day or one week before your blood test, would it affect the reading?

Hi Mary,

 

Fasting blood values are most accurate.  Meaning you should not eat or drink anything (other than water) 10-12 hours prior to your cholesterol lab work.  The foods you eat during this time may impact your results.  However, 24 hours or 1 week prior is not likely to have an impact.
