Hi Dilshad,

The goal LDL for most patients is at least less then 130, if not less then 100. Is 206 your total cholesterol or LDL level? Lifestyle modifications, such as a healthy diet, exercise, and smoking cessation can help to lower cholesterol, many patients still require taking a medication to get them to goal levels. Statins, such as Lipitor, are generally first line therapy for high cholesterol. Depending on how much your cholesterol needs to be lowered will determine which statin your doctor will prescribe. If your doctor has prescibed you Lipitor, I would recommend that you take it, along with eating a healthy diet and routine exercise.

Thanks for your question!
