How is cholesterol levels calculated it seem that the UK and Europe have different measures

I live in the UK but travel often in Europe. My cholesterol level in the UK is 9.mg, but speaking to a medical person in France their levels are measured differntly, could you tell me how to convert mine to european levels. Thank you
