Hi Stacy,   Weight fluctuation day to day is typical, even 3-4 pounds.  You can minimize the fluctuation by weighing yourself at the same time each day.  However, still expect some variation.  If you're trying to lose weight, the number should gradually decrease.   To lose weight for the long term, your best bet is to make small positive health changes you can stick with permanently.  For example, work your way up to being active 5 days a week for 60 minutes to burn extra calories and promote heart health.  Second, find ways to cut calories.  To lose 1 pound per week, it's best to cut calories by 500 per day.  Create this calorie deficit by burning 250 calories via exercise and cutting 250 calories from your diet.  This will reduce your calories by 3500 each week and result in 1 pound weight loss each week.   All the best, Lisa Nelson RD How to Lower Cholesterol in 8 Simple Steps
