simvastatin vs lipitor
I have been taking 15mg of Liptor for 3 years. My new cardiologist has switched me to 40mg of Simvastatin. Does that seem cool /
Chris,
Thanks for your question. Both Lipitor and Zocor have been around for some time, and both have great data demonstrating their effectiveness. They're considered on the same level as far as improving lipid numbers. Simvastatin 40 mg is a standard dose and may represent a very slight increase over the 15 mg dose of Lipitor. Your cardiologist may have some anectodal experience, or new information that led him to make the change. Both drugs are good and the change is reasonable.
Best wishes.
