High cholesterol and excess body weight are both risks for heart disease, and obesity raises the risk of at least six different types of cancer. Losing weight with a high fiber low fat diet, regular exercise (even just walking three times a week), and quitting smoking are ways to reduce these risks.2. Allergic reactions can cause high eosinophils, but there are other possible causes. Given this man’s profession as a miner it would be prudent for him to discuss with his physician the likelihood of a chemical exposure causing an inflammatory reaction in his lungs. 3. TSH—is this high or low? TSH is a lab value that is helpful in determining whether the body is over-producing or under-producing thyroid hormone.
