If I am allergic to the iodine in the IVP tests, can I still take Omega 3 for my heart?

I became paralyzed on my left side and my eye became bloodshot from the IVP dye iodine.  Will taking Omega 3 fish oil have the same effect?

Ann M. BUsh,

I would not take over the counter Ogega 3 fish oil without consulting your doctor who is most familiar with your allergy and medical history.  He may ask you further questions about this allergy as well as certain foods.  He might also reccommend vegetarian forms of Omega 3 fatty acid supplements.  Though most over-the-counter vitamin supplements are considered safe, you have a known allergy, and therefore should never supplement without your doctor's knowledge.

Thank you.

This video animation shows how cholesterol behaves in the blood stream. Cholesterol is a soft, fat-like, waxy substance found in the bloodstream and in all your body's cells.
