Thanks for your question. Simvastatin is the generic for Zocor, one of the stronger statin medications available for the treatment of elevated cholestrol levels. Most statin medications are recommended to be taken in the evening, though Crestor (another statin) can be taken at any time of day.
Apparently, the drug half-life (how long it lasts in your body) is a factor in determining this. One study monitored LDL (low density lipoprotein levels of Cholesterol) following doses of statin medications. Lower levels of LDL were observed when these medications were taken in the evening rather than the morning.
