Q: I WAS TAKING LIPITOR, (10MG) THE DOC PUT ME ON TRICOR 145MG IS THIS A HIGH MG FOR ME?

MY TRIGLYCERIDES ARE 397 H MG/DL

MY VLDL CHOLESTEROL CAL ARE 79 H MG/DL

MY THYROID (TSH) WAS 0.336 L

MY DOC PUT ME ON TRICOR (WHICH IS OK) BUT, I ONLY TOOK 10MG OF LIPTOR BEFORE

AND I WAS WONDERING IF 145MG OF TRICOR IS A BIT MUCH?

MY DOCTOR IS GONE FOR 2 WEEKS AND I HAVE NO ONE TO ASK THIS QUESTION

Thanks for your question.

 

Tricor 145 mg is a standard dose of this medication.  You cannot compare the milligram strengths of one medication to another.  If you were taking 10 mg of Lipitor, this does not mean that you should be taking 10 mg of the tricor.  The clinical dosage strengths are arrived at after much research long before the drug is released on the market.
