Can coffee raise cholesterol?
Hi Dshear,
There have been several studies completed on the relationship between coffee/caffeine and cholesterol levels. It's possible a compound in coffee - cafestol - raises serum cholesterol levels. No conclusive results. To "play it safe" drink coffee in moderation (1-2 cups per day) and be aware of what you add to your coffee. If you are using a high fat creamer, switch to nonfat, etc.
All the best,
