Q: I have exteremly high cholesterol, around 350 and started taking simvastatin, but ended up getting the hives after 2 weeks. What else can I take, rather then the simvastatin?

Hi Bourbeau01301,

 

There are a number of medications to lower cholesterol available. I recommend discussing the pros/cons of your options with your physician. I also encourage you to make diet/lifestyle changes to lower your levels and reduce your dependence on medication (and avoid potential side effects!).
