Patricia,   Thanks for your question.    Tricor (generic - fenofibrate) is a medication used to lower the fat content of the blood (lipids).  Specifically, it can lower "bad cholesterol" (LDL), lower triglycerides, and raise "good cholesterol" (HDL).  It is usually prescribed after non-medication measures have not been effective enough.    The brand named product - Tricor can be taken at any time of day, with or without food.  It is recommended that it be taken at the same time each day to establish a pattern, therefore making it less likely to forget.  Never stop or alter the dosage of this, or any medication without informing your physician.  Generic forms of fenofibrate differ in their makeup, and restrictions concerning the timing of the dose, as well as possible food restrictions may differ.  Be sure to discuss this with your doctor or pharmacist.   I hope this has been helpful.   Martin Cane, M.D.
