Topics:Cholesterol Levels

I am a 39 year old female with Hashimotos disease I am 5'4" and 114 lbs. I have never been heavy but have always had high cholesterol so does my mom and my grandmother died of a massive stroke. I recently had my levels checked and my PCP was happy with my results and said they were they best he had seen with me probably due to increasing my cardio work-outs. I however am still concerned with the numbers what do you think? Total cholesterol 205, Chol/hdlc ratio 2.5, HDL 82, LDL 108 and Triglycerides 77. Not sure if it matters but I am on 100mcg of levothyoxine. Thank you.

Hi Mini,

With your family history, I recommend discussing a comprehensive lipid panel with your physician, such as the Lipoprotein Particle Panel offered by SpectraCell.  This would give you more information to determine if your HDL and LDL particle sizes are "good" or cause for concern.  You would also learn your lipoprotein(a) level which is influenced by genetics.

All the best,
