Q: Active, heathy, skinny, high triglycerides?

I am 52, a triathlete, have very low body fat, and very healthy cholesterol and glucose levels. I eat well and exercise 5-6 days a week. I just had my cholesterol checked and was dumbfounded to learn my triglyceride level is 479! What is going here?

Hi Carolleigh,

Hmmm, I agree, from the information you've shared your elevated triglyceride level does not make sense.  I definitely recommend working with your physician to determine the cause.  Here is a post you may want to review to make sure you are on track with promoting a low triglyceride level:

Bad genetics? I am 5.7 135lbs workout 6 days a week for 1 to 1.5 hours everyday. Eat out once meal/week. I eat hell lots of vegetables and only eat low glycemic index carbs.

I hope it makes you feel better when I say...5 months back my triglycerides were 900 and cholesterol 380 !!! You are not alone...do the best you can and forget the rest.

Btw, I started doing this program called p90x and in 3 months I had 50% drop in Chols and Trigs. Still a long way to go.
