Q: what alternative medication available if tests show high liver enzymes as a result of taking Lipitor

I was diagnosed with high cholosterol in Nov.2008 ,tot. cholos.260,LDL 180,HDL 27 .I was

put on 10mg /day of Lipitor.After 3 months lab tests showed tot. cholos.130,LDL 75,

HDL 34 and liver function tests results were O.K. 6 months after that ,liver tests showed

elevated ALT and AST (double upper normal limits )which lead me to stop taking Lipitor.

My question : Is there a safer medication to lower cholosterol than Lipitor ?
