Q: Is there any way to raise the HDL levels

I had a blood test done and was told the my HDL was low.  I do not remember what it was.

Is there a way to raise it, and yes i have been stressed with worring about money problemsUndecided

Hi Donna,

 

Well, good news, raising HDL shouldn't cost you any $'s! 

 

HDL should be above 40 mg/dl and ideally greater than 60 mg/dl.  I recommend you read this post - Tips on How to Raise Your HDL.

 

Activity is the best way to raise HDL, but here's a quick summary of all steps to raise HDL:

  1. Increase physical activity to at least 30 minutes 5 days/week.
  2. Replace saturated fats with healthy unsaturated fats.
  3. Add omega 3 fatty acids.
  4. Increase dietary fiber.
  5. Use alcohol within reason (if you don't drink, don't start!)
