reduction of effectiveness of Lipitor after long use

Are there studies to show that the body can get used to Lipitor and that the LDL values go up again after some time years of usage? I need to take a statin and originally 10 mg Lipitor helped best. But after a couple of years taking them the LDL levels again became unacceptable and my Dr put me on...
