surfer13,   Thanks for your question.  The simple answer is no.  Salt intake has no effect on Cholesterol.  Foods that are high in cholesterol often have a high salt intake, which adds to taste appeal.  Also, many people with a cholesterol problem also have high blood pressure, and so many physicians ask patients to follow a low cholesterol as well as a low salt diet.    I hope this has been helpful.   Martin Cane, M.D.
