Recent diagnosis: Lithium-induced Diabetes Insipidus & elevated LDL-C (121). Is there a connection?

60 years old, fit, Nov '08 diagnosis of Diabetes Insipidus (misdiagnosed prior 24 months as BPH or bladder-related).  Long-term lithium patient. Can this condition impact my cholesterol levels, particularly LDL-C? Related blood work Lipid Panels summarized as follows:     DATE            LDL          HDL          TOTAL          TRIGLI.

                6/07            116          52              193               126

                8/08            115          54              177               115

               11/08             96          57              170                 83

Also, can the 30% decrease in my triglycerides(past 90 days) be explained by impact of 33% decrease in lithium intake to offset symptoms of Diabetes Insipidus.

Two doctors have indicated that my relatively low HDL levels may offset any increased risk associated overall increase in total C. (i.e. when it rose to 193 in 2007).

Confused about why Lipid Panel results are different when compared to LipoProfile.

Any advice and /or suggestions would be appreciated, as my condition affects 1/25,000.
