Fatlady,   Thanks for your question.    Zocor is a medication used to lower the level of fats in the blood.  Specifically, it lowers the total and "bad cholesterol (LDL), and raise the "good cholesterol" (HDL).  Zocor is not a timed-released formulation and can be broken or crushed.  Placing it applesauce or another soft vehicle will not alter its effectiveness.   Best wishes.   Martin Cane, M.D.
