Q: Does South Beach diet help lower cholesterol?

My cholesterol is high in the normal range. My doctor is recomending South Beach diet, phase 2. Iin looking at the recommended foods, I"m suprised as it seems to counter what I thought were healthy choices. I'm a thin person with about 20% body fat and am reluctant to start eating so much meat. ANy thoughts?
