Q: my husband's cholestrol test result shows a total cholestrol of 212mg/dl, ldl 141mg/dl, hdl 41mg/dl tri 150 mg/dl.

it was 237 before but we brought it down to this level by using healthy diet which includes a lot of vegetables but not fruits.we eat chicken everyday though and red meat once in 5 weeks.he goes to the gym 3 to 4 times in a week. Is this cholestrol level vry dangerous and whatelse can we do to bring his cholestrol level down.He weighs 81kg and is 32 years old.

Hi Sara,

Here are the recommendations of the American Heart Association:

Total cholesterol less than 200
HDL cholesterol at least > 40, ideally > 60
LDL cholesterol at least less than 130, ideally less than 100
Triglycerides less than 150

Great job taking steps and successfully lowering his levels!
