You have made some real progress on your numbers, congrats! You really only need to shave a few more points off of your LDL which can be done with diet and exercise, which you seem to have already started, well done. If you want to really push these numbers down, cut out as much of the empty carbs as possible, including processed foods and things that metabolize as sugars such as breads, pastas and alcohol. If you can continue to push these number down without meds that would be ideal. Your target numbers should be discussed with your doctor as much has to do with your other risk factors for heart disease such as age, gender, weight, BP, family history, smoking ect. If you have two or more risk factors, your traget LDL may be under 100, but you should discuss that with your doctor.
I know there are those that would tell you that cholesterol is good for you, it is not. The body does need choleterol to build cells as well as for the functions of certain organs, however excess cholesterol is the issue so you have to ask yourself, how much is too much. Too much of anything is a problem, drinking too much water can kill you as well.
Spacedoc.net is an openly anti-statin site that only promotes one point of view, you should make sure to research both sides of any health issue to make an educated decision. Sounds like you are on your way, nice job.
Hope this helps,
Jon
