Q: someone told me i have to take 40 mg zocor to get same benifit from 20 mg of liptor?

Thanks for your question.  Both Lipitor and Zocor have been around for some time and both are considered among the stronger statin medications.  Roughly speaking, 20 mg of Lipitor is about equivalent to 40 mg of Zocor, though some patients will respond differently than other patients and require adjustments up or down depending on that response. 

 

Remember that follow up is needed to monitor your response.
