Q: I have plaque build-up in my carotid arteries - 50% blocked yet my cholesterol is not high - 144 with HDL -49 LDL - 79 I am 57 yrs old female and about 30 lbs overweight. What could be the cause?

I recommend you discuss a comprehensive lipid panel with your physician to further investigate the cause of your plaque build up.
