hi, my name is mariel....i finally got my test results today and im kinda confused on what these high numbers really mean....well, my NEUTROPHILS were high(8.7)..WBC (12.2)...HDL(32)...TRIGLYCERIDES 260 and VLDL 52....what does this mean....am i at risk of a heart attack or what.....Im, concern! can u please explain this to me?

Hi Mariel,


Here are the recommendations of the American Heart Association:

 

Total cholesterol less than 200
HDL cholesterol at least > 40, ideally > 60
LDL cholesterol at least less than 130, ideally less than 100
Triglycerides less than 150 (VLDL <30)

 

So, your HDL is on the low side and triglycerides elevated.  These two go hand-in-hand and the steps you take to lower triglycerides will raise HDL and vice versa. FYI - VLDL levels are calculated from triglycerides - triglycerides divided by 5 equal VLDL.

On possible reason for elevated neutrophils and WBC is an infection.  I would discuss with your physician.
