There is a finding called splinter hemorrhages which look like splinters under the nail. They are most commonly caused by trauma to the fingers, but without that as an obvious cause, it can be a sign of some underlying medical problems. This may be tied to the fact that your nails also splitting. Among these possibilities include blood disorders, thyroid disease, and vitamin deficiencies.
You need to see your physician for his evaluation which should include a full history, examination and screening blood work.
