Q: I am nursing my 5 month old and my cholesterol came back high? How long should I wait to test again

I am 38 years old.  I have always had good levels for cholesterol.  I decided to get my yearly blood work done a couple of weeks ago and my cholesterol levels came back high.  I am exclusively nursing my baby girl who is 5 months old.  Here are my levels:

Total Cholesterol - 239

Triglis = 117

LDL - 133

My liver was also up - 50 and it is supposed to be below 40.

How long after I stop nursing should I have my blood tested?

Hi Nursingmom,

I'd wait to be checked 3-4 months after you stop nursing; however, I recommend discussing with your physician.
