Q: Possible side effects of zocor: skin darkened on neck, naturally curly hair now straight

I have been taking Zocor 10mg for 3 weeks.  I also added Co enzyme Q10 30mg and fish oil twice a day.   I now notice darkened skin on both sides of my neck and my formerly naturally curly hair is almost straight.  How likely are these changes side effect of my new meds?

Hi Nancy,

Zocor does have some potential dermatological side effects. I recommend discussing with your physician to determine if it's the cause of your symptoms and your options.

I've been on 40mg Lipitor for about 6 weeks now and my ALWAYS curly hair has suddenly become straight.  I am at a loss to know what to do with it!  I've never experienced anything like this so I thought I would see if anyone else had experienced it.  I had been on 20mg and did not have any changes except for digestive disturbances ... lots of gas, loose stools, etc.  Eventually though my body adapted to it.  This straight hair is something completely new and the only thing I can think of is this change.
