I recommend contacting your physician to ask questions. Don't leave the doctors office without making sure you understand exactly what the problem is, what the treatment plan is, and all your options so you take part in the decision of what is best for you.
I recommend also discussing your medications with your physician and/or pharmacist so you are aware of potential drug-interactions.
