Finding a Long Island physician who has a broader view than just statins

Many guides like Castle Connelly show physicians with great reputations but I am looking for someone who has a bigger picture view than the standard fare. Reputations alone don't mean that a physician is open minded, listens or has a broad view of the subject. There are a lot of people suffering from statin side effects and it scares me to death. I would like to find a physician on Long Island who takes alternatives seriously.
