My doctor changed me from Lipitor to Simvastatin without telling me or talking to me. She said that my insurance company Harvard Pilgrim sent her a letter telling her to change all patients with Lipitor to this Simvastatin. Harvard Pilgrim said she requested it. I have always had a very high triglycerides level, and with the lipitor, it was lowered. I have multiple medical issues and the last time my doctor changed a medication I had a bad reaction. Now she wants me to try the simvastatin, and if it doesn't work, go back on the Liptor. She is very insistent about this, and I feel she is not taking my best interests into consideration. Do you have a comparision on effectiveness on triglycerides for Lipitor and Simvastatin? I do not want a cost comparison, but a comparison of effectiveness. I feel my doctor and Harvard Pilgrim want to lower their costs at the expense of my health.
