Why does it need to be taken at night

Usually medication has to be taken with food, however there is nothing that says Simvastatin needs to be taken with food, just to be taken at night. Why is this?

Hi Pete,
The body produces most of its cholesterol at night while sleeping, which is why taking statins prior to bed is recommend. Taking statins prior to bed usually makes the medication most effective at blocking cholesterol production.
