Q: what foods should I avoid in order to lower cholesterol and what foods are recommended to eat

Hi Kjell,

 

The most effective diet changes are dependent on your cholesterol numbers, such as LDL, HDL, and triglycerides.  However, here are fundamental diet changes that support lower cholesterol levels.

 

The first step to lower cholesterol is to replace saturated and trans fats in your diet with heart healthy unsaturated fats.

 

Next, increase dietary fiber intake, especially soluble fiber.
