Q: Had xanthelasma lesions surgically removed,7 years ago, but have now begun to reappear. Recently prescribed Simvastatin as part of treatment plan for angina - is this likely to help the lesions?

Also taking aspirin, Atenolol + alendronic acid.

Hi Blackcat,

The simvastatin will promote lower cholesterol levels which should reduce the build up of xanthelasma. However, I'm not sure if it'll reverse the build-up that has already started. I recommend discussing with your physician further.

Thanks, Lisa - I did mention it, in passing to my GP, and he didn't seem too sure!

However, I'll maybe ask again next time I see him, or maybe just wait and see how well the development of new lesions slows down - fingers crossed!

Best wishes, Blackcat
