Q: Will Cholestrol meds cause deafness or tinnitus? Also blood pressure meds.

Afraid of takeing cholestrol meds. They will cause deafness and tinnitus.  Also blood pressure meds called TRIAM/HCTZ. Do any of these cause deafness or tinnitus? Please help.              Judy

Hi Judy,

 

Your best resource is your pharmacist. They can print off a list of possible side effects specific to the medications your doctor prescribes.

 

Lipitor is a common statin medication prescribed for lowering cholesterol. Tinnitus is a potential side effect of the medication.

 

I did not find hearing issues/tinnitus as possible side effects related to Triamterene-HCTZ, but discuss with your doctor and pharmacist.
