Q: Natural Way To Lowering Cholesterol

My cholesterol ranges sbetween 210 and 250.  Triglycerides-139,HDL-56, VLDL28mg/dl,L
DL 168mg/dl. I want to know if it is reasonable for me to expect to get my cholesterol level to an acceptable level eating right (fruits, veg. lean meats fish) (taking red rice yeast & fish oil) Iam 63 yr. old female, 5'4" tall and 159 lbs.and trying to lose 5 more lbs. My blood pressure has always been good. I'm doing water aerobics about 3 days a week and also ride my bike and work out on my pilates machine. I cannot tolearate Lipitor, Lovistatin or Crestor.  I'm reading so many bad things about the medications that I feel better trying to do this naturally.

Hi Sporty Gramma,

It's likely you can lower your levels through natural means versus medication if you make the necessary changes.  Don't forget the importance of whole grains.  Review this checklist for steps you need to take to lower levels naturally - http://www.healthcentral.com/cholesterol/c/42538/40303/cholesterol.  I recommend continuing to work with your physician as you take steps to lower your levels naturally.

All the best,
