It's good that your doctor is looking "deeper" into your cholesterol levels and not just evaluating the standard. Many individuals never have LDL-P or Lipoprotein(a) evaluated, so that's great you are aware of these levels. LDL-P is a measure of the number of particles transporting cholesterol in your blood stream. A concern is the higher the level the more likely cholesterol is being deposited in vessel walls.
LDL-P is looking at the number of particles, but not the size. I recommend discussing whether or not your LDL particules are mostly small, dense LDL with your doctor.
