Q: Is Vytorin effective for the treatment of carotid arteries?

Is it effective in preventing build up of plaque after carotid artery surgery?

Hi Becky,

 

Vitorin is a combination of the two drugs simvastatin & ezetimide. It works to reduce the absorption of cholesterol and has been shown to lower LDL cholesterol and triglycerides while raising HDL cholesterol.

 

I recommend discussing the effectiveness of the medication option with your physician to determine if it's appropriate for your situation.
