Hi Sipa,   You'd be better able to determine if lowering your total cholesterol is necessary by knowing the breakdown of your cholesterol (i.e. HDL, LDL, and triglycerides).  A comprehensive lipid panel is ideal to determine if cholesterol particle sizes are "good" or "bad" and if action needs to be taken.   All the best, Lisa Nelson RD How to Lower Cholesterol in 8 Simple Steps
