Q: What if I forget to take my evening cholesterol meds? I took it last night but forgot to pick up my

meds this evening.  I started taking meds in Jan 2010 and hae missed several doses since then I take simvastatin - 1 20 mg tablet every evening.

Since you are taking one 20 mg. tab daily, I am assuming your cholesterol isn't sky-high, just somewhat high.  That being said, don't ever double up.  Just take your medication the next evening.  If you forget to take a cholesterol lowering drug for one night here and there, it is not a serious issue.  It could be if we were talking about blood pressure meds, but that is another issue.  You should as a general rule try to take any medication around the same time each day, and a good way to remember is to associate it with something that is already a habit, such as brushing teeth, etc.

I take the same script.  I also take 5 mg. Norvasc.  I take both at night after I eat dinner.  ( I never miss dinner)!  Keep meds in basket near sink.  Hope this helps.
