In response to:
Hi Junior,   Interesting. . . generally the higher your HDL levels the greater protection you have against heart disease.  I am not familiar with a reason why this recommendation would change due to open heart surgery.  I recommend speaking with your MD further to clarify exactly what level he/she would like to see your HDL and the reason why.  If you are still unsure about your MD's treatment plan, there is nothing wrong with seeking a second opinion.   All the best,   Lisa Nelson, RD Lower Cholesterol Naturally
