Q: simvastatin vs lovastatin or pravastatin

I currently take 40 mg of simvastatin can I safely switch to lovastatin or pravastatin as they are a lot cheaper.

Hi Gary,

 

It is possible you can switch your medication, but discuss with your physician first. Each of the medications is a statin drug and work to lower cholesterol in similar ways.
