Q: Lovaza - help or hurt?

On Lovaza 4 mos. Latest lipid profile shows decrease of triglicerides from 247 to 160

BUT Increased Total Cholesterol - from a Good 181 to a Bad 230?

Increased LDL from a Good 88 to a Bad 146?  Was told that my HDL is up to 52 (don't remember what it was 4 mos ago)

Obviously the Lovaza did its job to lower the triglicerides, but it seems crazy that the LDL has almost doubled.

What Gives??

All but stopped eating red meat; increased fiber; watch fat intake; not eating as many sweets (have slipped a little during holidays)

Now she wants me to start taking Crestor.  My LDL was good before the Lovaza. I am confused & concerned.

Thanks for your input.

Hi Lady,

Your triglycerides and HDL are on the right path.  I would definitely want to get my levels checked again.  Were the readings taken after a fasting period?  You seem to be doing well with your dietary intake.  Also, do you exercise?  Take any kind of supplements?
