Q: High ldl, high hdl crp test score 6

Here are my numbers:

HDL: 90

LDL: 197

Total: 297

 

Doc ordered the cardio reactive protein test and I got a 6.  He wants to put me on statins.  What should I do?  I exercise regularly but have a bmi of 32 (need to lose some lbs). I have normal blood pressure and sugars.  thanks

Hi Wendy,

 

I'm not able to help you answer the statin medication question.  That's a decision to be made between yourself and your doctor.  I am familiar with a physician that is anti-statins.  If you'd like to learn more about his reasoning, you can receive a few of his articles here - http://www.lisanelsonrd.com/lundell.html.  Also, if you decide statins are the best route for you, I recommend you review the following article.  I've also included a link with tips on how to lower LDL cholesterol.
