Q: reports showed as Cholesterol 150 mg/dlTriglyceride 360mg/dlHDL 43mg/dlLDL35 mg/dlVLDL 72

I am 35 old male with no history of smoking,alcohol and no family history of heart disease.I do managerial work usually sitting on chair 40 hour a week .I took tab ofloxacin 400mgBD for ten days 1 month back for ENTERIC FEVER prescribed by physician. 

I have today 18/06/09 done my fasting lipid profile  showed as below
cholesterol 150 mg/dl
Triglyceride 360mg/dl
HDL Cholesterol 43mg/dl
LDL Cholesterol 35 mg/dl
VLDL Cholesterol 72

what would you advice me ?

Hi Dev Raj,


Here are the recommendations of the American Heart Association:

 

Total cholesterol less than 200
HDL cholesterol at least > 40, ideally > 60
LDL cholesterol at least less than 130, ideally less than 100
Triglycerides less than 150

 

Your two problem areas are triglycerides and HDL.  Triglycerides are elevated and HDL too low.  Typically, the steps you take to lower triglycerides will raise HDL and vice versa.  Check out the following two posts:
