Q: I have a bad liver will 20mg tab of simvastatin hurt my liver?

Usually, if a person has liver problems, they are given another type drug that is easier on the liver. If your enzymes are high, statins can put too much stress on the liver and cause more problems. You have to be monitored when you are on statins. Personally, I would not take a statin if my liver were compromised.
