Hi Amanda,

Congratulations on the ~40 pound weight loss!!  Sounds like you are doing a great job taking care of yourself.

As far as toning up - are you including strength training in your routine?  Consider working with a personal trainer for at least an hour session to check your form and make sure the lifts you're doing will give the results you want.  The trainer will be able to tell you if the weights you're lifting are too light and you need to move up and do fewer repetitions or lighter weight more repetitions.

If you are not currently doing weight training, work it into your routine and ask an expert to show you how to correctly lift so you do not injure yourself.  Either way, developing your muscle mass is what will give you the tone you are looking for (while continuing to include regular aerobic activity and a healthy diet).

All the best,

This video animation shows how cholesterol behaves in the blood stream. Cholesterol is a soft, fat-like, waxy substance found in the bloodstream and in all your body's cells.
