Q: Quit Smoking

How or what is the easiest or best way to quit smoking? I am 49 female and have been smoking since I was 12 yrs old......I want to quit smoking but I'm having a hard time at it. What is the easiest, less costly and best way to quit?

Hi Ginger 59,

 

I recommend contacting your state or local health department.  When I worked for the South Dakota Health Department they provided a "Quit Line" where individuals had free access to support and assistance paying for the patch or other medications to stop smoking.  It's a safe bet that other states provide similar services.  Another option would be a referral from your MD to a local program.

 

This is a great step towards heart health for yourself and your family!
